Most of the back pain we see in the practice does not come from heavy lifting. It comes from long days in the same position. Muscles that hold one posture for hours get stiff and sensitive, and the brain starts to read normal movement as a threat.
Movement is the treatment
The good news: the fix is not a perfect chair. It is changing position often. Stand up for calls, take the stairs to the next floor, walk to a colleague instead of writing a message.
Three movements for between meetings
Slow hip circles while standing, ten in each direction. Cat and cow on the edge of the desk, eight times. A short walk with long, relaxed arm swings. Together they take less than three minutes.
If the pain has lasted more than six weeks, or it spreads into one leg, book an assessment. Pain that stays is easier to treat early.
